Community Guidelines

• Treat other members with respect. No harassment, bullying, hate speech, or threats.
• Conduct that is threatening, abusive, harassing, degrading, retaliatory, or intentionally disruptive to the chapter community is prohibited.
• Don't share someone else's messages, photos, or personal info without their OK.
• No spam, and no using KTP digital spaces to promote something unrelated to the chapter without asking eboard first.
• Keep photos and messages appropriate for a chapter-wide audience. Assume anything you post could be seen by anyone in the app.
• Don't impersonate another member or eboard.
• Misuse of chapter authority, chapter property, funds, or digital platforms is listed conduct under Section 21 of the Code.

Kappa Theta Pi Phi Chapter does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, religion, height, weight, veteran status, genetic information, or any other demographic category protected by applicable law or University policy. That applies in here the same as anywhere else, and it applies to membership and to every privilege of membership, including voting rights and officer positions.

A lot of what moves through this app is confidential, and the Code is explicit that unauthorized disclosure counts whether it is verbal, written, digital, or otherwise. Screenshots and forwarded messages are disclosure.

Confidential information includes, but is not limited to:

• Membership selection discussions and votes, including decision night.
• Judicial or disciplinary matters, strikes, and investigations.
• Financial data such as internal budgets or bank-related information.
• Deliberations held during Executive Board, Cabinet, or committee meetings.
• Any meeting, message, or matter where confidentiality is explicitly invoked.

This duty applies both during and after your membership. Officers may share confidential information only as far as they need to in order to carry out constitutional duties, report conduct violations, or meet legal obligations.

During rush and pledging there is an additional rule worth stating on its own: internal KTP gossip, confidential decisions, private discussions, and chapter issues are not to be shared with non-initiated individuals, and members should not publicly speculate about membership decisions or call attention to who is or is not rushing. Section 11 makes clear that this holds regardless of living situation or how long you have been friends.

Attendance, RSVPs, check-ins, and profile information in this app are chapter records. Falsifying excuses, records, attendance, or information submitted to officers is a violation of the Code, and it reads the same whether it happens in a form here or in a conversation. Communicate truthfully and in good faith, in informal messages as much as in formal proceedings.

You can block anyone from your Settings or their profile. They will not be able to message you, and you will not see their messages in shared group chats. Blocking is immediate and does not require anyone's approval.

Blocking is a tool for your own comfort and is not itself a report. If something needs to be addressed by the chapter, report it as well.

Every message, photo, and profile has a report option. Reporting sends the item to eboard's review queue with the reason and details you provide. Reports are reviewed by chapter leadership, not by the person you report.

You can also raise a concern outside the app to any Executive Board member or to the Judicial Chair. The report queue is a convenience, not the only route, and nothing in it replaces the chapter's judicial process.

Depending on how serious the matter is, it may be reviewed by the appropriate officer, the Judicial Chair, the Judicial Board, or another body authorized by the Constitution. The Judicial Chair is responsible for situational disciplinary action and for maintaining records of strikes and absences. The Judicial Board is an independent body that arbitrates circumstances outside the ordinary.

Outcomes can range from no action at all to a conversation with the person involved, removing content, or restricting someone's access. Sanctions under the Code may include a verbal warning, a written warning, a fine, a required meeting with chapter leadership, probation, temporary loss of privileges, removal from chapter events, removal from office, or dismissal from membership. Severe or repeated violations may go to the Judicial Board, or to impeachment proceedings for officers.

Fair process. Before significant disciplinary action is imposed you should be told the concern and given a chance to respond, except where immediate interim action is needed for safety, compliance, or protection of the chapter.

Appeals. Within 24 hours of a Judicial Board decision, you may submit a formal written request to the official Kappa Theta Pi email asking to present an appeal to the Executive Board. The Executive Board may decline the request; if it is approved, the appeal is heard at the next Executive Board meeting.

If a Judicial Chair or Judicial Board member is the one under investigation, they must recuse themselves, and the Chapter President sits in their place so the process stays impartial.

Sexual misconduct, as defined by University policy, is prohibited. Allegations are handled through University procedures and the requirements set out in the Constitution, and where the reporting party chooses to, they may be reported directly to the University of Georgia Equal Opportunity Office. The Vice President of Internal Affairs is responsible for compliance with this provision.
